A Race to go Down in the History Books... Bahrain GP 2020

So, normally I would be giving some sorta light banter on the race as a whole. Are maybe something that happened over the weekend, Lewis breaking another record or something like that. This year has been one very topsy turvy one for sure. Before, I go any further I want to say that I wish Romain Grosjean a speedy recovery and his family the best possible ease of mind through out these entire event.

When the weekend started I already kind of expected some sorta drama to unfold on the track. Bahrain usually has some pretty good races, and it was looking like this years was gonna be pretty good to. Red Bull looked to be on the pace and to put some fight to Mercedes. The mid field fight for 3rd in the constructors championship is getting very spicy! However, I am sure no one thought the race would go down in history for the way it did today.

The start of the race was actually really good, and I slammed my fist on the couch when I saw Max get past Bottas at the start. And then again when Albon made a move on Bottas and staying in 4th through turn 1 and 2. Then after that it was kind of a blur till I watched the highlights again later that afternoon. Going into turn 3 you saw Norris had damage to his front wing and then Stroll going wide. But, on the left side of the screen you see a car go across the track clip another car and then get sent into the barrier at a high rate of speed. Then just flames and something that looked like a movie! And something that sorta shook me to my core. My mouth dropped and heart sank because I knew it was a massive incident. Even, more when they didn't show any footage for quite some time. The race was red flagged and the drivers came back into the pit lane. What felt like hours was really only 10 minutes at best. Then they finally showed Romain setting inside the medical car talking to the track doctor. At that moment everyone watching this race finally could get that sinking feeling out of there gut.

Now, to not overstate what has been shown dozen of times and is on YouTube now. The footage was really horrendous and probably the worst crash I have seen in a race in a long time.

After that the race was pretty straight forward. All be it minus the two Racing Points having there own incidents! Now, not at all either of the drivers for both of them. Stroll got bumped by Kvyat and flipped upside down. It was a slow flip and Stroll came out just fine and unharmed. Then 4 laps to the end Perez had an MGU-K (Battery) failure, which led to a fire at the back and put him out of the race.

With Perez out, this put Albon into P3 and on the podium. And with that though, the safety car came out and we finished under the safety car.

All in all it was a race that will go down in history, and with a happy outcome as well. Even if it will go down because of a massive crash.
