A bit of an off topic compared to my normal posts about F1. But, none the less it is motorsport related and exciting as well! I recently had the opportunity to speak with the founder of Formula Woman Graeme Glew. It was a very interesting to hear the story of the beginning of Formula Woman and the growth it has recently seen with coming into a newer age of digital media.

Formula Woman started originally back in 2004, 17 years ago with the first championship series. A racing series dedicated to being solely female oriented. Which I think is a very exciting prospect in itself. Originally, the racers drove Mazda Rx-8 and then Caterhams throughout the series run. Over 10,000 applicants, 16 where chosen and there was only one champion. But, with the loss of sponsors and such. The series took a pause...a long pause. However, with the evolution of social media and the prominent woman's movement over the last couple of years. Graeme decided to bring back the series in 2020. However, as we all know the worldwide pandemic happened and brought the world of sports to a bit of a stand still. That didn't stop the project though as it gained steam through out 2020 and is ready to make its debut in 2022. Thousands of applicants have already started to pour in, from all over the world! It has kept gaining momentum with new sponsors, and network deals in the making.
I think this will be a very dynamic way to introduce not just female drivers that have been at it since they were kids. But, female drivers that just feel they have the talent to drive!
As well as providing a nurturing place for those that have a passion for motorsport as well. Engineers, aerodynamics, marketing and so much more that goes into the daily operations of a top team. Formula Woman gives a great community to help gain opportunities or contacts within motorsport itself.
All in all this is a series that needs to be recognized for what it is trying to achieve. So, be sure to check out the link below. Share there passion with others. Who knows you could be a next champion driver or your little sister! You never know how this could inspire you or others around you.
