The (Boring) End to the Season! Abu Dhabi GP 2020

It wasn't the most eventful race of all season. Okay, it was a complete snooze fest! I think every year since I have watched F1, the second to last race is an absolute banger! And then the Abu Dhabi GP comes around and it is duller than a butter knife. So, is that saying something about the track...yes it is, yes it is. Like everyone else around the world, they agree that the track needs to be changed. However, I hate to disappoint everyone. Because, the amount of money that the UAE put on to not only have it as the last race. But as well as the millions the Crown Prince payed to have the hotel and marina built. The layouts can be changed, with chicane taken out, before the hairpin to maybe give a harder braking zone. However, even that may not fix he underlying issue. Which is the cars that are on the track racing can't follow the others in front for crap! Here is hoping to the new 2022 regulations finally giving us a closer wheel to wheel battles through out the year.

I will say that this race for the last 6 years has been dominated by Mercedes. And I don't mean the race, I mean the whole weekend. Generally they rock up in Q3 and get a front row lock out. Then have a race between themselves into the first corner on lap one and whoever is in the lead at that point wins the race by 40 seconds! But, 2020 being as it has been all season long. Through us one finally chicane (curveball), and a Red one at that. Max Verstappen pulling out a mega middle sector to bag the first non-Mercedes pole of the season. Now, your probably like don't forget about Racing Point in Turkey. Well, technically that is the pink Mercedes. So, I am not wrong and you can suck it!

We all thought this might actually give us a good race, let me rephrase that. A small percentage of us thought it would give us a good race. It is still Yas Marina Circuit after all. And we where proven wrong/right of course on Sunday.

The race itself had two things that happened, okay three things that happened. The first is that Perez had an engine failure and caused a safety car. Which put almost everyone on a onestop strategy and basically sealed the boring factor of this race. The 3rd place in the constructors championship was the second thing that happened and was also sealed when Perez retired. With both McLaren's running in the top 6. The last thing is that Red Bull pulled a Mercedes and ran away with this race, okay Max ran away with this race. Wow, i've said that okay... alot. I'll try to stop now.

Now, I loved seeing a Red Bull out front and winning. It was great to see them finally putting the fight to the Mercs. All be it that the Mercs had turned down there engines a little. But, they did say it was only costing a 10th a lap...

All in all the best part of the weekend was all the team radios after the race. Not gonna lie I got a little emotional when I saw Sainz and Norris driving side by side.

What a crazy year it has been and what an amazing season we have had! This is one that will never be forgotten!
