Its Saturday, Sunday, WHAT! Tuscan Grad Prix 2020

Once again I am truly at loss for words! What a crazy weekend at Mugello. To be honest I was right along with everyone and not truly knowing how this race was gonna play out. It could have been really dull with absolutely no overtakes or well definitely not what we watched on Sunday! One saftey car and two red flags later and it came out as a typical 1/2 for Mercedes with Lewis taking the win from Bottas. However, everything in between was the true icing on the cake. I don't think I have ever seen that type of carnage/action in a race... ever.

I think the key area is to start with Ferrari 1000GP celebration....And the fact that I wish I could get the five minutes of my life back after watching there Saturday night event. If you have not seen the celebration and the dancing that was going on. Well you didn't miss a whole lot and it kinda sums up Ferrari's year in a strange way. Link below if you really wanna watch it.

Now, lets get to the race. Are should I say three races! Now, if your wondering why I said three, than you need to stop reading open up a new tab. Go to youtube and watch the HIGHLIGHTS ON F1 CHANNELLLLL!!!! NOWWWW!!!!

Welcome, back if you had to go and watch the highlights. The race itself was chaotic from start to finish. So, I am gonna try and summarize as much as I can.

PHASE ONE

With Lewis on pole you would assume it was going to be another win in the bag for the champ. Well finally Bottas 3.0 showed up and gave it to him right out the gate. All be it that Lewis had a horrible start and got caught by Verstappen as well. Had Max not had a power issue and the subsequent crash into turn 3 that was caused by Gasly (Dammit, can Max have at least some bit of luck this season!). I am pretty sure he could have put some major pressure on Lewis and might have gotten a win. But, I will stop fanboying over here and get back to the race at hand. With the crash into turn three we got a full safety car on lap one. To be honest I thought we where at Baku after this. I'm gonna start saying "Well Done Mugello!".

It looked like it was gonna be a normal restart with Bottas slowing down pretty far back, before gunning at the control line. And then all hell broke loose! From the drivers cams it looked like it was someone in front of K. Mag who accelerated then braked hard assuming the race was going. This left K. Mag, Latifi, Giovinazzi, and Sainz all out of the race. And end of phase one.

PHASE TWO

And lights out and away we go...again. Now, the second restart Bottas bottled it and this is where are hopes of a championship challenge has probably went out the window. And also what I thought to Albon also making it tougher on himself, by not getting a good start and getting eaten up by the field. It has to be mentioned that Leclerc was 3rd on the grid at the restart, however we know that this was not going to last at all. The race resumed for what looked like it was going to be another easy Mercedes 1/2. With several laps passing by and giving us a little bit of action. Dan Ric and Albon both putting on some moves and keeping themselves in this fight for third. Then Stroll had what seemed to be just an off due to driver error. But, after hearing the team radio and looking at onboards. It might have been a rear puncture that lead to that pretty hard hit into the tire barriers. Just like Monza with Leclerc we had another red flag. Since, they had to repair the tire barrier.

FINAL PHASE (SPRINT RACE)

Before I get into this, it has to be said that a reverse grid sprint race would be a FANTASTIC IDEA!!!!! Just saying, back to the race. And its lights and away we go for the third time. This was a very long race to watch. Lots of down time with the two red flags. But, I think it was worth it for a 13 lap sprint race to the chequered flag! Once, the lights went out it wasn't really about Bottas or Hamilton. As we already knew Lewis was gonna win and another Mercedes 1/2. The real part of this sprint race was to see who would get third. When it started I thought Albon just straight let it go again and got passed by Perez. But, he stuck in there and went around the outside of Perez and then makes his way towards Danny RIc. Who mean while got a great start and is up into 2nd place. However, we all knew this was not going to last and Bottas got past on the next lap. With only a handful of laps left, Albon makes a great move around the outside of Riccardo for 3rd.

After over two hours of racing we finally see the chequered flag and Lewis cross the line first to win the very first Tuscan GP. With Bottas following

in 2nd and the Alexander Albon finally taking 3rd place and a podium finish. I'll be completely honest I was having a mental argument with myself trying to decide who I would rather see on that podium. Albon or Danny Ric?!

In the end I cheered more for the third place finisher than I did for first!
